Inspiration to start your own business can strike anywhere, for Claire Hartry it was while driving past a former ‘pick your own’ farm.
Seeing the to let sign outside the shop, 26 year old Claire contacted Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and began the process of opening The Brook Farm Shop.
Claire said: “I love food, I love cooking and I feel confident in sourcing good and interesting produce that people will want to cook with. The focus is on locally-sourced food – everything you need for the perfect Sunday dinner. The dream is to team up with a few organic gardeners working at Ryton, to start growing our own produce that we can sell.”
80% of the produce at the shop is sourced within 30 miles. Local produce currently includes beef from Kenilworth, organic fruit and veg from Leamington’s pioneering Canalside Community Food project, honey from Stoneleigh and free range eggs by hens and quails in Coventry.
The shop in Stoneleigh Road Coventry, launched in December and is open daily except Thursdays. http://www.thebrookfarmshop.co.uk
