Is it the golden shortcrust or flaky pastry, filled with anything that takes your fancy, served with lashings of gravy and dollops of creamy mash that make pies such a comfort food staple?
I always think that March is too late for British Pie Week, it should be in Winter, but here are some special offers on this week to celebrate this great dish this week.
So forks at the ready, Jekyll and Hyde is offering your favourite pie and mash (which are served with buttered carrots, peas, kale and rich gravy) and add a pint of Jekyll or Hyde ale for £10 this week. The pie menu includes:
Mr Hyde – ale braised steak and vegetables.
Happy Farm Yard Pie – free range chicken, ham, leek and mushrooms.
Hyde & Seek Pie – venison, shallots and juniper with red wine.
Cutie Pie – goats cheese, sweet potato and spinach.
James Martin pies are on the menu at The Dun Cow in Rugby, where you could snap your way to a pie-making masterclass with the chef himself!
Simply upload your photo of the pie that you are eating in the restaurant via the Vintage Inns website or The Dun Cow Facebook page between 3rd and 9th March to enter.
From the menu, James Martin’s pies include spiced pulled lamb, slow-cooked game and blackberry, chicken and pulled ham, or British beef and Merlot.
Before this little fella scoffs the lot, head to The Fat Pug’s Facebook page, to see which pies are on the daily specials at this Leamington Spa pub!
