Birmingham’s first wine festival

While my partner went to a comic fair on Broad Street on Saturday afternoon, I popped into the Hyatt for Birmingham’s first Wine Festival.

After picking up my tasting glass I wandered around the room of stands of local wine merchants and importers, trying to learn a little more about how to choose wine.

At Loki you can sample up to 24 wines in the boutique tasting room. They have a selection of over 900 fines wines and spirits, all chosen by the owner Phil, including well-known favourites and new discoveries from Croatia, Japan and Lebanon. (David is pictured).

Julia Phillips at Just Perfect Wines is the exclusive UK importer and distributor for ORA in the Midlands. This DSOG Prosecco is complimented by another new brand Furlan, which are available from The Cellar Door in Sutton Coldfield and The Drinks Room in Warwick.

The weekend had included an afternoon for corporate guests as well as sessions open to the public, masterclasses and shopping with Loki, Connollys and Harvey Nichols.
