This is the month where you can roll your sleeves up and learn how to make cocktails at Harvey Nichols, or filet fish at Becketts Farm.

Sit back and enjoy the tales from restaurant critic and raconteur Jay Rayner, who brings his show My Dining Hell to Leamington. Also on tour is Digbeth Dining Club, who will be playing away from home at Coventry Cathedral for a day.

Lets hope that the weather is more Spring like for English Wine Week, which culminates in a one day festival of the UK’s best vintages at The Bond. To quaff more vintages, check out the new Spit and Wine School at The Plough in Harborne, who are holding an Introduction to South American wine.

It is the start of the festival season, with Warwickshire towns Alcester and Warwick both holding one day celebrations of locally produced fare.

In the run up to the Colmore Business District’s food festival iChoose mag has lined up a Hot Dog Off with Nosh & Quaff, Purecraft Bar & Kitchen, Pub du Vin and The Bureau Bar & Kitchen battling it out to get your vote.

Wherever you go in May, I hope that you enjoy meeting local producers and tasting some great food and drink.
