Festive telly

If you need some inspiration on what to cook or eat over Christmas, there are plenty of festive food programmes on this week. Starting with Jamie’s Ultimate Christmas tonight, with a profile of food writer Anna Del Conte on Thursday to a Great British Bake Off special on Christmas Day.


Jamie’s Ultimate Christmas

Compare your own home cooking to the work of the expert, as Jamie spices up sprouts with chorizo and whips up a turkey risotto. Monday 19 December C4 8pm


Mary Berry’s Absolute Christmas Favourites

In two programmes, Mary Berry shares some of her favourite recipes for a Christmas Day feast. Tuesday 20 & Wednesday 21 December BBC2  7pm


Inside the Christmas Factory

Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey watch millions of mince pies being made and discover the history behind some of our favourite festive treats. Tuesday 20 December BBC2 9pm


The cook who changed our lives

Nigella Lawson leads a tribute to food writer Anna Del Conte, who helped transform Britain’s understanding and appreciation of Italian cooking. Thursday 22 December BBC2 6.30pm


Food Unwrapped Does Christmas

How can you keep your turkey breast juicy? What makes pink champagne pink? How can supermarkets sell lobster for a fiver? Why are Jimmy’s chestnuts exploding? Plus: the ultimate gingerbread house. Friday 23 December C4 8pm


Great Christmas Bake Off

As a final swansong to BBC1’s popular baking show, on Christmas Day previous contestants Ali, Cathryn, Norman and Mary-Anne are back in the tent at 4.45pm to create sweet treats. On Boxing Day its Howard, Chetna, James and Janet’s turn to delight the judges at 7pm.
