With the mercury steadily rising the warmer temperatures call for a long cool drink, which makes me think of a refreshing pint of cider.
You don’t have to go to Somerset or even Hereford for locally produced cider as Napton Cidery is right here in Warwickshire and throwing open their doors to visitors on Saturday 18 May for a bit of a party.
Three new recipes and a refurbished shop will be revealed during the day, from noon to 7pm. You can also tuck into tasty sausages, cheese, Water Buffalo ice cream and a special Stratford Gin summer cider cocktail too.
If you can’t make it this weekend, the team also run a one hour guided tour of the cidery and a tasting every Saturday from 4pm. The tour begins with a cocktail and short workshop to highlight the traditional production methods. You will then be taken around the cidery’s production area and given a detailed account of how the award-winning products are crafted. At the end of the tour, you can make yourself at home in the bar to sample Napton Cidery’s full range of ciders, spirits and juice.
Napton Cidery is a family-owned business that started in 2016 with the sole mission to collect unwanted apples from their village and make something wonderful. From pressing a simple 2,000 litres in 2015, they now press over 45,000 litres – all sourced from small orchards across the UK to support sustainable British farming.
