Take your pick from this cornucopia of food and drink events in the Midlands this month.
In Warwick you can sip tea at Warwick Street Kitchen or shots of Chase Vodka at Square Wine and enjoy the next in the series of Dine with Wine evenings at High Pavement. I’ll be in town mid month for Rob Eatwell’s ‘Feather & Fur’ menu at the Rose & Crown.
Help celebrate both the Thai Festival and their 10th anniversary at Sabai Sabai restaurant in Moseley, or try a raw food evening with the Latvian supper club Two Cats Roaming at 6/8 Kafe.
Put your skills to the test and learn how to cure and smoke your own meat with Italian deli Squisito, or go the whole hog and butcher a pig with the Loaf chefs.
Get your bake on at the Cake International Show and return to the NEC for the BBC Good Food Show Winter at the end of the month.
Wine lovers can discuss vintages with Tim Atkin at Hampton Manor or stock up for the holidays at the Christmas Wine Fair.
For next year I’m planning an even bigger and better events calendar, where you can search for food and drink events by area and category. By subscribing to my blog you will automatically receive these updates.
Every day this week I will be giving away a pair of tickets for the BBC Good Food Show Winter, that are worth £46.50. For your chance of winning, all you have to do is like this post to enter.
The show features over 50 chefs and experts from across the country on seven different stages. The nation’s favourite TV programmes will be brought to life with Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry in The Great British Bake Off and James Martin in Saturday Kitchen.
The Producers’ Village will be packed with some of the best artisan producers in the country, perfect for picking up gifts and special ingredients for the festive season. I’d make a beeline for Midlands Best Deli winner Beckett’s Farm Shop, from Wythall, just outside Birmingham.
Barney Desmazery, BBC Good Food Magazine Food Editor says, “There was a really impressive range of nominations this year, from all over the Midlands. Beckett’s Farm Shop really stood out from the competition with plenty of nominations from loyal customers, fantastic facilities that include a cookery school and an obvious passion to delight their customers. It’s great to see quality local produce being sold at affordable prices too. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they will bring to the show.”
As a Midlands Gourmet Girl competition winner, you can enjoy a day at the show on any of the following dates – Wednesday 27, Thursday 28, Friday 29 and Sunday 1 December. Please note that these complimentary tickets do not include entrance to the Supertheatre.
The BBC Good Food Show will be at the NEC this week. From speciality and artisan producers and fresh local produce to seasonal live cooking demonstrations, there will be plenty of summer recipe inspiration at the show. http://www.bbcgoodfoodshowsummer.com
